Colby LOVES the weather. He's been interested in weather since he was 2 years old. And he's 5 now. That's a long enough time for a child to have a single interest last. This is the first year we tracked all the tropical storms & hurricanes. He had a tornado cake for his 5th birthday, and was a tornado for Halloween. So, when I finished the world atlas mural, he came with me to take pictures. He has recently become interested in taking pictures as well, with the influence of his picture happy mom. So, he brought his little camera along. It gave him an idea for what he'd like for a mural in his room. So, he asked if I could paint the USA like the Weather Channel, so he could do the daily forecast. I thought that was a great idea. I don't know if I've ever done an interactive mural before- or any interactive artwork for that matter!
I painted it on his metal closet door. It turned out great. We made weather magnets to place on the mural according to the daily weather forecast. He LOVES it.
That's so funny. He is born to be a meteorologist!
